Sliding Gates in Cape Town and surrounding area
We can make as many gates and as many designs as you desire.
The basic principle of a good, solid easy operating sliding gate is to have a good railing for it to operate on and have a solid bottom frame on the gate to prevent it from sagging. For sliding gates up to 4m I suggest a bottom frame of not less than 76mm x 40mm x 3mm and for gates bigger than that, a bottom frame of maximum 100mm x 50mm x 3mm. The railing on which the gate operates (slides) should not be of material less than 40mm x 40mm x 5mm Angle iron. This can either be bolted to the concrete foundation or casted into the concrete.
Advantages
Sliding gates are easy to operate by hand and can also be motorised easily. The advantage of I sliding gate is that it does not take up lots of space to open and close. A well built sliding gate will ensure years of hassle free operation.
Finishing
To withstand the weather and elements, it is advisable to have it galvanised. Afterwards it can either be painted or epoxy coated to the colour of choice.
